Job Description: Under the Direction of the Lab Department Director, the Pathology Supervisor provides leadership and oversight in the areas of Grossing, Autopsy, Histology, Cytology, Digital Pathology, and Send-out Testing.

Requirements

Minimum 5-7 Years’ experience in a high complexity Histology Lab including special stains, Immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and immunofluorescence.
Demonstrated leadership skills, such as leading and/or mentoring teams and projects
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, and Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
May be required to produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Nice To Haves

Associates or Bachelor’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited histology technician program or a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Responsibilities

Maintains effective Workflow and Operations.
Acts as an expert resource within an area of specialty (autopsy, grossing, histology, cytology, digital pathology, send-out testing)
Recommends and prepares Standard Operating Procedures for designated area and provides training in the area of expertise
Oversees scheduling and payroll.
Maintains timely and effective communication of feedback to manager and direct reports
Provides training and leadership to support team
Drives Quality Improvement Initiatives and seeks ways to improve performance and service
Performs and submits all performance assessment documentation to Human Resources on time.
Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities.
Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing budget in functional area of department
