Job Description: Under the Direction of the Lab Department Director, the Pathology Supervisor provides leadership and oversight in the areas of Grossing, Autopsy, Histology, Cytology, Digital Pathology, and Send-out Testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-7 Years’ experience in a high complexity Histology Lab including special stains, Immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and immunofluorescence.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, such as leading and/or mentoring teams and projects
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, and Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
  • May be required to produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited histology technician program or a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Certified Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains effective Workflow and Operations.
  • Acts as an expert resource within an area of specialty (autopsy, grossing, histology, cytology, digital pathology, send-out testing)
  • Recommends and prepares Standard Operating Procedures for designated area and provides training in the area of expertise
  • Oversees scheduling and payroll.
  • Maintains timely and effective communication of feedback to manager and direct reports
  • Provides training and leadership to support team
  • Drives Quality Improvement Initiatives and seeks ways to improve performance and service
  • Performs and submits all performance assessment documentation to Human Resources on time.
  • Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities.
  • Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
  • Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing budget in functional area of department
