About The Position

Obtains insurance information and referral forms and counsels patients on financial assistance when seen in department for services. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Obtains insurance information from patients and counsels alternative ways for financial assistance. Registers all new patients and assists with form completion. Reviews schedule for new patients and makes updates when necessary. Calls patients with appointment time reminders; obtains insurance information and referral forms. Explains billing process to patients, answers incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers. Explains billing process to other staff; assists with basic account maintenance activities. Assists patients with insurance questions regarding the billing process. Assists staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties. Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires protective devices. Patient care setting. Direct patient care setting. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table. Typically standing or walking. Typically bending, crouching, or stooping. Occasional lifting (25 lbs. or less). Equipment: Office equipment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
  • Billing Systems And Third-Party Claims And/Or Medical Office Setting, Related Customer Service (3 Years)
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
