Cleveland Clinic’s M50 Pediatric Nursing Unit is part of Cleveland Clinic Children’s and is dedicated to treating hematology and oncology pediatric patients. Caregivers on this unit provide innovative cancer and blood disorder care for children, including adolescents and young adults. M50 also provides care to pediatric bone marrow transplant patients. As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting. A caregiver in this position works varying shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Demonstrate proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at a minimum junior high level as scored on the employment assessment.
• Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN: vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, application of external monitoring devices, and removal of urinary Foley Catheter.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly.
• Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace.
• Maintain personal growth and development through the ongoing process of formal and informal education.
