About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Float Pool! This is a full time, Day shift in Charlottesville, VA. Hours: 7AM to 7PM Three 12-hour shifts (36-hours per week), with rotating weekends. (self scheduled) Department/Position Overview: The Central Float Pool at Sentara Martha Jefferson is hospital specific and includes floating to units with additional need due to either acuity or staffing. Primarily assigned to IMCU or Medical/Surgical units, this unit offers training and precepting on the ICU and ED for those who wish to move into these more critical care areas. This Central Float Pool is ideal for those who enjoy variety or are interested in learning new skills. Due to the advanced level of practice, 2 years of experience is preferred Sentara Martha Jefferson has under a 12.6% RN Turnover rate Patient Satisfaction scores are highest in the system at Martha Jefferson Sentara Martha Jefferson Foundation education assistance program up to $32,500 Free Parking at Sentara Martha Jefferson Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Requirements

  • HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
  • One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
  • AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of health care experience is preferred.
  • Due to the advanced level of practice, 2 years of experience is preferred
