Patient Care Technician – Behavioral Health – Per Diem In this role, you'll performs routine and complex tasks as delegated by the Registered Nurse/Physician. Performs duties of Nurse Aide as necessary. Participates in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care as a member of the nursing team under the supervision of a registered nurse/physician in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients, expertly intervening in times of anxiousness and assisting them with their daily activities. Record vital signs and other important clinical information, as an important resource for the multidisciplinary team. This position works the per diem shift including weekend at NYP/Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of experience as Nurse Aide
  • ACLS, BCLS and additional American Heart Association Life-Support classes
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical functions
  • Complete in-house training program
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with staff, patients and visitors

Nice To Haves

  • A college degree and at least one year of psychiatry-related experience
  • EKG & Phlebotomy expereince
