Patient Safety Monitors are responsible for watching patients and observing behaviors that need to be escalated to the nurse. A Brief Overview Patient Safety Monitors are responsible for watching patients and observing behaviors that need to be escalated to the nurse. Requirements

  • No Education Required
  • No prior work experience
  • Ability to read, write, and understand verbal or written instructions
  • Ability to communicate verbally with others
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to organize and complete tasks
  • Ability to work with age specific populations including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
  • Ability to effectively respond to safety protocols

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Continuous observation of the patient at all times (eating, using the restroom, etc.).
  • Accompanying patients off unit alongside nurses or other licensed clinical personnel (never alone).
  • Engage verbally with the patient to redirect unwanted behaviors.
  • Inform care team of non-compliant behavior for documentation.
  • Never leave the patient unattended.
  • Undivided attention must be given to patients at all times.
  • Use appropriate communication method when assistance is needed for either a break or to report changes of patient behavior to the nurse. (i.e. call light, alert alarms, etc.)
