About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Patient Support Specialists support practice success by performing administrative and clinical functions in support of Primary Care technicians, opticians, and patient services representatives. Specific assignments will be dependent upon workload and staff availability. Requirements

• High school graduate, or equivalent
• Proficiency in EHR
• Exceptional keyboarding skills
• Detail-oriented
• Strong organizational skills
• Polite, professional, and courteous
• Talking, Hearing
• Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time. The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in optometry environment is preferred

Responsibilities

• Preparing patients for eye examinations
• Performing preliminary testing on patients
• Assisting optometrist/ophthalmologist with patient procedures
• Coordinating patient scheduling
• Preparing exam room
• Assisting patients in selection of spectacles, providing education on quality choices based on their lifestyle and prescription
• Calculating insurance co-pay based on patient's eligibility
• Accurately enter orders for spectacles and contact lenses
• Receive orders into system, verify order, and contact patient for dispensing
• Complete repair orders
• Maintain optical merchandise displays
• Respond to patient billing inquiries
• Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, and support patient communication
• Prepare patient chart prior to appointment
• Perform end of tasks, including balancing cash drawer, processing daily deposits, and submitting reports
