About The Position

Kinsley is seeking self-motivated, dependable, hard-working Paving Operators/ Paving Laborers and Concrete Finishers to join our paving Utilities patching crews. This position is based out of our Ephrata, PA Office. A successful candidate should be able to work in a crew environment and have a general knowledge of paving and patching.

Requirements

  • This position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical certification throughout employment.
  • Ability to work in a crew-based environment.
  • Previous experience operation asphalt pavers or other heavy equipment such as rollers, skid steers and graders).
  • Punctuality and dependability are required, must have transportation to get to assigned job sites.
  • Previous asphalt paving experience is preferred.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Valid PA driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • PAVING OPERATOR
  • Operate asphalt pavers, rollers and related heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Preform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
  • Read and interpret plans, grades and job specifications.
  • Assist with set up and break down of paving equipment as needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Support other crew members during paving operations when required.
  • PAVING LABORER
  • Shovel and lute asphalt.
  • Take and understand instructions from crew leaders.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of paving.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • CONCRETE FINISHER
  • Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.
  • Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch, depth, and aligned accurately.
  • Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire to strengthen the concrete.
  • Spread, level and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand, or power screed and float.
  • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affects the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process to ensure a durable, smooth and uniform finish.
  • Produce rough concrete surface using broom.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and move chute to direct concrete.
  • Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.
