About The Position

Road Ranger, a growing multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking to add a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to its Human Resources Department! The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering all aspects of the Company’s store-level payroll and benefits, and provides outstanding internal service to store-level employees in those areas. This position also performs extensive departmental reporting and data analysis.

Requirements

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Working knowledge of fundamental applicable employment regulations (i.e. FSLA) required
  • Working knowledge of benefit programs required
  • Highly professional and ethical with uncompromising morals and integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks and demands simultaneously.
  • Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality.
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and laws related to employment activities and to exercise independent discretionary judgment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically or through other means to individuals or groups.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field preferred
  • Experience with payroll processing software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the timely and accurate processing of weekly payroll for all store employees, including the data entry of new hires, separations, and payroll changes.
  • Administer all store benefit programs including yearly open enrollment, distribution of benefit information, and data entry of employee enrollment and terminations to include notification of information to providers.
  • Generate and distribute internal and external reports for benefits and payroll.
  • Perform various analyses on HR data sets, such as labor costs and employee turnover.
  • Continually analyze departmental processes and generate process improvement recommendations to departmental leadership.
  • Respond to external requests and demands such as employment verifications, garnishments and other benefit and payroll related items.
  • Provide outstanding internal service with employee questions and problem resolution.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.
