Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll tax, with a strong focus on multi-state payroll compliance.
  • 5+ years of firsthand experience with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Specialized technical knowledge of payroll tax and compliance with functional expertise in this payroll area.
  • Experience supporting payroll in multi-location distribution or retail environments.
  • Experience with HRIS transitions or system integrations in a dynamic operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of monthly, quarterly, and annual multi-state payroll tax filings and payments in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including W-2s and other statutory reports.
  • Direct experience with payroll processing in managing the entire payroll cycle from timekeeping to payment distribution, in conjunction with reviewing and verifying payroll data for accuracy, including employee timecards, involuntary and voluntary deductions, and extra payment management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations across multiple state and local tax authorities to ensure alignment in the payroll system.
  • Reconcile on cycle and off-cycle payments and payroll tax liabilities and resolve discrepancies with internal teams and external agencies as related to payments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors (e.g., ADP GlobalView) to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll processing and tax reporting.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding payroll issues and assist with resolution.
  • Lead or support payroll tax audits (internal, external, SOX) and respond to tax notices from government/regulatory agencies.
  • Actively support payroll tax readiness related to ADI’s transition to standalone systems, ensuring accuracy during system migrations, parallel testing, and data validation.
  • Ensure payroll tax compliance across ADI’s multi-state workforce, including distribution centers, branch locations, and corporate functions.
  • Analyze payroll tax data and provide subject matter expertise to HR, Finance, and leadership on payroll tax matters. Prepare reports for leadership.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll processing and payroll tax operations/compliance.
  • Maintaining and updating payroll systems, including data entry, system configuration, and testing updates.
  • Ability to work independently through problem-solving and propose solutions.
