About The Position

We’re in an unbelievably exciting area of tech and are fundamentally reshaping the data storage industry. Here, you lead with innovative thinking, grow along with us, and join the smartest team in the industry. This type of work—work that changes the world—is what the tech industry was founded on. So, if you're ready to seize the endless opportunities and leave your mark, come join us. THE ROLE As a critical leader within the FlashArray team, you will safeguard the performance and "zero-downtime" mission of our industry-leading storage portfolio. You will serve as the primary architect for PCIe validation excellence, collaborating across global engineering teams to ensure our internally designed SSDs thrive under the most demanding mission-critical applications. This role isn't just about testing; it’s about defining the architectural standards that allow our customers to bridge traditional IT with the agility of the public cloud. WHAT YOU'LL DO Lead Test Architecture: Direct the global drive qualification team in developing comprehensive SSD validation suites focused on PCIe features, compliance, and complex failure recovery scenarios. Drive PCIe Excellence: Define the test framework requirements to integrate standardized validation suites and complex toolsets, serving as a mentor and technical beacon for PCIe validation across the organization. Execute End-to-End Qualification: Manage drive qualification across the entire product portfolio by developing test plans, driving deep-dive failure analysis, and guiding stakeholder expectations based on rigorous data results. Automate & Innovate: Utilize advanced scripting to automate testing cycles and proactively develop new qualification tests that cover emerging drive features and mitigate potential field issues. Resolve Complex Failures: Act as the lead for root-cause analysis, utilizing PCIe bus analyzers and trace captures to drive issues to resolution through collaboration with cross-functional experts. We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

Requirements

  • Architectural Expertise: Proven track record in PCIe fundamentals, including experience with Gen5/Gen6 validation using high-speed oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and exercisers.
  • Deep Protocol Knowledge: Highly skilled in NVMe storage interface protocols and PCIe compliance testing (SIG) to qualify drives at the electrical, protocol, and functional levels.
  • Advanced Development Skills: Strong software development capabilities, specifically with Python, and hands-on experience navigating Jenkins and GIT CI/CD pipelines.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead test architecture and successful qualification of SSD products within an enterprise data storage environment.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: A decisive, detail-oriented approach to hardware and firmware debugging, paired with the communication skills to present results and propose solutions across various technical forums.
