About The Position

ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Full Time Flex 72hours Sr. CNA/PCT2 on the behavioral health unit (U4N) to help promote the safety and well-being of the patients/staff on the unit throughout the day. CNA's are primarily responsible for Q15 minute safety checks on all patients, meal monitoring for 3 meals a day and 2 snacks, belonging checks, small group activities, and clerical tasks as needed. Assist patients with daily living activities when needed. Display compassion, empathy, and exceptional communication and relationship building skills to individuals in need of treatment to help promote physical well-being, psychological and emotional well-being for all mental health and behavior diagnosis. This is a 12-bed unit for adults, ratio is 12:1 for PCT. Shift is 0700-1930 and1900-730am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays. Total of 36 hours weekly/72 bi-weekly. The CNA / PCT II position requires the execution of clerical duties to help support the nursing staff and patients. CNA license not required for this role.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent AND one or more of the below qualifications:
  • Previous patient care experience including taking vital signs.
  • Nursing student who has successfully completed clinical hours or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program.
  • Licensed CNA's will be required to perform provision of nursing assistant care within scope of practice including IV insertions.
  • Acceptance into a Christiana Care approved Patient Care Technician training program.
  • Must be certified in BLS and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to help deescalate behavioral situations and assist with direct 1:1s when ordered by physician.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, climb as per unit based Physical Demand Checklist.
  • Ability to acquire information to identify patient needs and to deliver care as needed.
  • Ability to work quickly and thoroughly.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient status, take appropriate action and advise RN
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to use appropriate safety measures for patients, employees and self.
  • Ability to follow universal precautions at all times.
  • Ability to exercise judgment, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to respond to patient crisis situations under the direction of the RN, following ChristianaCare protocol.
  • Ability to show strength in basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 Yrs. of Acute Setting of Behavioral Health Preferred
  • 2 years clerical or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned nursing duties for the comfort and well-being of patients.
  • Performs and accurately records vital signs, Accu-checks, bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobilizing patients.
  • Performs successful finger sticks on patients, defined procedures on point of care instrumentation and EKGs.
  • Following established policies and procedures, additional duties may include phlebotomy venipuncture.
  • Responds with promptness, compassion, and interest to needs of patients.
  • Demonstrates proficiency using required computer skills to document in the electronic medical record.
  • Performs Unit Clerk duties such as, answering phones, entering charges, calling provider consults, setting up patient transportation, assisting staff with clerical needs and audits and coordinates maintenance of unit supplies.
  • Responds to patient crisis and initiates interventions within the scope of responsibilities and notifies RN.
