About The Position

The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pediatric Dentist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and will be proficient in various dental procedures. This role requires a compassionate approach to patient interactions and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment. The Dentist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating oral health issues, providing preventive care, and ensuring the highest standards of dental practice. Schedule: 3 days/week

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Pediatric Dentist
  • Experience practicing pediatric dentistry, Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry for treating young patients
  • License to practice dentistry in the state of New York
  • Proficiency in Dentrix or similar dental software
  • Strong skills in patient care with a focus on comfort and satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex procedures clearly to patients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team while demonstrating leadership when necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and dental fabrication techniques.
  • Proficiency in using dental imaging technology and understanding anatomy relevant to pediatric patients.
  • Strong familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical documentation standards.
  • Experience in PEDIATRIC dentistry procedures tailored for children within a clinical setting.
  • Ability to perform dental extractions safely while minimizing discomfort for young patients.
  • Skilled in four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization procedures aligned with healthcare regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with dental software systems, ECW is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations and assessments for pediatric patients, utilizing medical and dental terminology to document findings accurately.
  • Provide preventive care, including fluoride treatments, sealants, SDF, CURODONT, to promote optimal oral health in children.
  • Conduct various dental procedures such as dental restorations, extractions, pulpotomies, and other necessary treatments with precision and care.
  • Utilize advanced dental software systems like ECW for efficient medical documentation and record keeping.
  • Apply aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety during all procedures.
  • Educate patients and their guardians on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary impacts on dental health, and preventive strategies.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to develop individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique needs.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure ethical practice standards.
