About the unit 5S PICU is an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The unit manages the care of those patients under 25 who require intensive care. The diagnoses seen are multiple traumas, shock, DKA, respiratory failure, drug overdose and multiple organ failure. This unit also does all deep sedation for pediatric procedures such as EGD, colonoscopy, LP, bone marrow biopsy, PICC lines, thoracentesis, etc. About Royal Oak Hospital Recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #2 hospital in Michigan and one of the top hospitals in the country. It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. Scope of work Coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the unit. In addition to communication and clerical tasks, she/he monitors and stocks supplies. Provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse.
