About The Position

The Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Nemours Children’s Health, Jacksonville is seeking an Academic Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon with focus on Pediatric Orthopedics and Hand/Upper Extremity Surgery to join our growing and collaborative team. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a nationally recognized pediatric health system and help expand a high-quality orthopedic program serving children and families across Northeast Florida and the surrounding region. Position Overview The selected candidate will join a collegial department that includes eight pediatric orthopedic surgeons, soon to be nine, two pediatric non-operative sports medicine physicians, twelve advanced practice providers. The candidate will provide comprehensive pediatric orthopedic care with a primary clinical focus on hand and upper extremity disorders , working closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes orthotics and prosthetics, rehabilitation specialists, and care coordination professionals. There is no separate hand call associated with this position. Call responsibilities are shared across the pediatric orthopedic surgery team , and with a group of eight surgeons, soon to be nine , the call schedule is structured to be highly manageable. The selected candidate will have the ability to create focused clinical niches and multidisciplinary programs in areas such as: Brachial plexus and neonatal brachial plexus injury Congenital hand and upper extremity deformities Upper extremity trauma and reconstruction Collaborative microsurgical and complex reconstructive initiatives with Plastic Surgery Upper extremity sports medicine, including development of wrist and elbow collaborations and surgical care pathways Neuromuscular hand disorders

Requirements

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited orthopedic surgery residency
  • Completion of, or current enrollment in, fellowship training in Pediatric Orthopedics
  • Completion of, or current enrollment in, fellowship training in Hand Surgery
  • Board certified or board eligible in orthopedic surgery
  • Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical license and DEA

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical care in pediatric orthopedics with a focus on hand and upper extremity conditions
  • Participate in the continued development and growth of pediatric hand and upper extremity program in Jacksonville and North Florida region
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary partners across orthopedics, rehabilitation, therapy, plastics, and sports medicine
  • Contribute to education, quality improvement, clinical innovation, and outcomes-based care
  • Participate in educational initiatives to training pediatric orthopedic fellow, residents, and medical students and strengthen academic affiliations with the University of Florida and Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
  • Pursue opportunities in clinical research, program development, and academic advancement
