About The Position

The Pediatric Respite RN provides in-home healthcare support to pediatric patients, focusing on symptom management, patient and family education, and care coordination. The nurse delivers skilled nursing services during respite shifts, performs ongoing patient assessments, and ensures compliance with home health regulations. Becomes dually employed with Alivia Care, Inc.’s home health agency, Alivia Home Health, and performs home health responsibilities including education, admissions, obtaining physician orders, and care coordination for Alivia Home Health clients. Cross-train to provide coverage for palliative and hospice nursing services. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Sound understanding of pediatric nursing principles and practices.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide care in varied patient home settings and manage care autonomously.
  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience, with at least two recent years in pediatric nursing.
  • Current RN license in the State of Florida.
  • Current BLS Certification.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must receive medical clearance for communicable diseases prior to patient contact.
  • Current immunizations including TB, Hepatitis, and Influenza.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and follow-up assessments to identify patient and family needs.
  • Implement and follow the physician-ordered plan of care, including medication administration, treatments, and support through discharge or end-of-life care.
  • Document all patient care interventions, including medications administered and post-mortem care when applicable.
  • Communicate promptly with management regarding patient issues, concerns, or service-related feedback.
  • Adhere to infection control practices and patient confidentiality protocols.
  • Provide education and advocacy to patients and caregivers, promoting safe and dignified care focused on quality of life.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, enrollments, and required 60-day nursing visits.
  • Serve as a liaison between the pediatric interdisciplinary team and other care providers.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of pediatric programs and services across the organization.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings and team discussions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of clinical and organizational documentation.
  • Participate in community outreach, in-service training, and program-related presentations as appropriate.
