About The Position

Under the direction of Pediatric Manager, the in-home Respite Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care including initial and ongoing assessment of patient needs, symptom management and care, with appropriate and ordered interventions completed. Position Details PRN Eligibility Status: Available to work a minimum of four (4) days/shifts a month; no on-call Shift Length: Usually 4-8 hours each Locations: Home care, primarily around Duval County (may include Nassau, Baker, Clay, or St. Johns at times) Compensation: $35.00 hour base salary, plus paid driving mileage

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Associates Degree, or possession of a degree from a diploma nursing program
  • CPR certification; licensed as a State of Florida registered nurse
  • (2) years nursing experience (minimum), ideally with two years of recent pediatric nursing

  • Ability to work within framework of varying patients’ home environments and locations

Responsibilities

  • Follows Plan of Care and Medication Administration as ordered by the physician, to include nursing interventions, medication administration and treatments, bathing, transferring, feeding, teaching, death/discharge process.
  • Completes documentation in the home, specific to the care, interventions performed, and medications administered, hourly and as needed throughout the care provided.
  • Documentation will include post-mortem care and destruction of medications at the time of death, if applicable.
  • Communicates with manager/director if any problems, complaints, concerns related to the patient/patient care/services.
  • Adheres to all infection control and patient confidentiality policies and complaint process to the Florida Department of Health.
