About The Position

PRIMARY PURPOSE: This is a per diem, W-2 employee (not independent contractor) position. The Pediatrician provides comprehensive medical care to patients from birth through the transition to adulthood, supporting healthy physical and mental development. This role involves diagnosing and treating illness and injury, administering medications and immunizations, and promoting preventative health practices for patients and their families. POSITION DETAILS: Employment Type: Per Diem Worker Classification: W-2 Employee (Not 1099 Independent Contractor) This position does not guarantee a set number of hours per week; scheduling is based on departmental need.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in pediatric medicine and clinical best practices.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Effective verbal communication skills; ability to work with interpreters as needed.
  • Strong written communication skills in English; ability to utilize auxiliary aids or services as needed.
  • Ability to apply knowledge gained through continuing education, professional literature, and training programs.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate clinical options and make evidence-based decisions.
  • Ability to educate patients and community members on health risk indicators and local prevention resources in Palm Beach County.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Outlook, MS Word, and Excel; minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and PC-based clinical software.
  • Understanding that FoundCare, Inc. provides HIV prevention education, which may involve exposure to explicit language, printed materials, and descriptions of sexual activity in support of the agency's public health mission.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school or college of osteopathic medicine.
  • Completion of an accredited pediatric residency program.
  • Active, unrestricted Florida medical license following successful completion of national board examinations.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Schedule flexibility required due to the per diem nature of the position, including availability for weekends, evenings, and travel as needed.
  • Ability to endure short, intermittent, and/or long periods of sitting and/or standing in performance of job duties.
  • Full range of body motion required. Position requires reaching, bending, and handling objects and hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and sight.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds or less.
  • Exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, with adherence to standard precautions to prevent transmission through contact with blood, body fluids, non-intact skin, and mucous membranes.
  • Accomplish job duties using various types of equipment/supplies, e.g. pens, pencils, calculators, computer keyboard, telephone, etc.
  • Ability to travel to other FoundCare locations and perform job duties.
  • Ability to travel to other locations to attend meetings, workshops, and seminars, plus travel to other FoundCare departments and FoundCare conference rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to patients, parents or guardians, and community members on nutrition, physical activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Collect, document, and maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, examination findings, and diagnostic results.
  • Conduct regular well-child visits to monitor growth, development, and overall health.
  • Perform physical examinations and order, conduct, or interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient health and establish diagnoses.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families about examination findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and next steps.
  • Monitor patient progress over time and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to support the physical and mental development of pediatric and adolescent patients.
  • Prescribe and administer medications, vaccines, therapies, and other medical interventions to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Coordinate referrals to medical specialists or other healthcare providers when the patient's needs exceed the scope of primary care.
  • Manage minor illnesses, acute conditions, chronic health issues, and developmental concerns across the pediatric age spectrum.
  • Participate in clinical research related to pediatric anatomy, pharmacology, and treatment innovation as applicable.
  • Provide clinical oversight and direction to nursing staff, medical assistants, students, therapists, and other care team members.
  • Review and approve outpatient procedures intended to address, repair, or improve the function of affected body systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of health education programs and clinical standards within the clinic or broader community.
  • Offer peer consultation to other physicians as needed.
  • Prepare required reports on birth statistics, disease incidence, mortality, and other public health or workforce data.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with agency policy, Florida state law, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Stay current on health risk indicators, community resources, and risk-reduction services available in Palm Beach County.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
