About The Position

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plans and carries out medical care program for children from birth through transition to adulthood to aid in mental and physical growth and development. Examines patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. Determines nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribes and administers medications and immunizations, and performs variety of medical duties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Pediatric Medicine.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to orally communicate effectively with others, with or without the use of an interpreter.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing using the English language, with or without the use of auxiliary aids or services.
  • Ability to review, understand and apply concepts presented in training programs, conferences, and/or professional literature.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate options and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to educate others on current health risk indicators related services and risk reduction activities of this and other agencies in Palm Beach County.
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute and basic proficiency in computer skills, including proficient use of Outlook, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in PC-based software and electronic medical systems.
  • Clear understanding that FoundCare, Inc., provides information on educating individuals about safer sex practices, which could include but not be limited to exposure to explicit language, explicit printed material, and descriptions of explicit sexual activities, as part of the agency’s mission in the prevention and transmission of HIV disease.
  • Graduation from an accredited school or medicine or osteopathy.
  • Completion of a pediatric internship/residency program.
  • Successful completion of a national medical examination and a current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Florida.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical decisions within scope of practice.

  • Bilingual – English and Haitian Creole is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advise patients, parents or guardians, and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
  • Examine children regularly to assess their growth and development.
  • Examine patients and/or order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests to obtain information on medical condition and determine diagnosis.
  • Explain procedures and discuss test results and/or prescribed treatments with patients and parents or guardians.
  • Monitor patient condition and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Plan and execute medical care programs to aid in the mental and physical growth and development of children and adolescents.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury in infants and children.
  • Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
  • Treat children who have minor illnesses, acute and chronic health problems, and growth and development concerns.
  • Conduct research to study anatomy and develop or test medications, treatments, or procedures to prevent or control disease or injury.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
  • Approve outpatient procedures on patients to remove, repair, or improve functioning of diseased or injured body parts and systems.
  • Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in clinic, business, or community for information, prevention, or treatment of injury or illness.
  • Provide counseling services to other physicians.
  • Prepare reports for government or management of birth, death, and disease statistics, workforce evaluations, or medical status of individuals.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy within the agency, state medical information requirements, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintains current knowledge of health risk indicators related services and risk reduction activities of this and other agencies in Palm Beach County.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
