About The Position

Under direct supervision, Student Assistant Peer Advisors assist in providing academic advising to students in all Undergraduate Majors at CSUSB. Peer Advisors assist in helping students prepare their class schedules, advising them on their requirements for General Education and their major. Student Assistant Peer Advisors interpret PAWS, start and update a myCAP for students, explain academic policies, offer campus and community resources, table to promote advising, create informative material regarding advising, put together presentations and facilitate advising information sessions, host ASUA drop-ins, and perform general office operations and clerical duties.

Requirements

Ability to learn and perform assigned work
Follow oral instructions
Work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students
Communicate effectively with all levels
Read and write English at a level appropriate to the position
Admission or registration as a CSU student
Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative
Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)
Eligible to work in the United States
Social Security Card

Available to work over the summer, fall, and spring
Must be at least at a Sophomore Standing (30 Semester Units Completed)
Must have a declared Undergraduate Major
Strong preference for at least a 2.5 overall G.P.A., or greater
Must be able to work mornings or afternoons Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8am-5pm over the summer and Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm during the academic year
