The Peer Support Specialist provide support to persons who have experienced or are experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder. Provide support to family members or others affected by mental health or substance use issues. To learn more about this position, please read the summarized list of duties below:

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• At least two (2) years of substance use recovery.
• Must obtain a good standing IL Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) which can be completed after hire.
• Must have personal recovery experience and willing to appropriately discuss own recovery journey.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and meets organization's insurability requirements.
• Employment with Bridgeway is conditional upon completion of all background checks.

Responsibilities

• Be a model for all people seeking recovery by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
• Develop relationship with community groups/agencies in partnership to achieve goals of program.
• Provide education and training for individuals and communities as necessary in the area of mental health or substance use.
• Provide recovery education to services recipients for every phase of the recovery journey including pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization and sustained recovery maintenance.
• Assist participants in identifying interests, goals, strengths and weakness regarding recovery.
