About The Position

Comprehensive Healthcare provides innovative behavioral health and integrated healthcare services to clients of all ages. What are we looking for in a Peer Support Counselor? Peer Support Counselors supports our collaborative behavioral health project with Camp Hope, a low-barrier emergency homeless shelter for adults and families. Peer Support Counselors Assists clients in exercising control over their lives and recovery process by promoting socialization, self-advocacy, development of natural supports and maintenance of community living skills. Shares own life experiences with clients as a supportive service. As part of this process, Peer Support Counselors will participate in scheduled and routine activities to assist clients in developing the skills and confidence to exercise control over their own lives. The schedule for this position is Wednesday-Sunday 2pm-11pm. This is a grant-funded position expected to continue through September 2027.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be a self-identified consumer of mental health services in stable recovery
  • Must be eligible for registration as Agency Affiliated Counselor
  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
  • In compliance with state and federal law, Comprehensive Healthcare requires all candidates to complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Please refer to WAC 388-113-0020 through 388-113-0030 for information on criminal convictions and pending charges that automatically disqualify an individual from working for Comprehensive Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • appropriately shares personal recovery experiences to provide encouragement and support clients in their recovery
  • partnering with clients to advocate for their needs & desires throughout treatment
  • modeling ways to engage with others to increase social supports, develop meaningful relationships, and access & navigate community resources
  • Provides education on how to access and navigate resources in the community.
  • providing clients with constructive feedback and motivational strategies to assist in their recovery
  • assessing clients for safety and risk to self or others, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures when indicated
  • supporting goal of same-day access and first appointment-to-engagement-of-treatment within four business days
  • demonstrating knowledge of CCBHC model of care for integrated behavioral health systems and national outcome measures specific to the grant
