About The Position

The People & Culture Generalist is responsible for providing HR support to Co-op employees across various business units. Responsibilities will include leave administration, recruiting, new hire paperwork at orientation, assisting with on-boarding of new employees, and setting up new employees in HRIS.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the need for tact, discretion, and confidentiality in communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be effective at all organizational levels
  • Able to quickly establish credibility
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Flexible, supportive, and adaptive to changes
  • Good understanding of software systems/processes
  • Working knowledge of Employment Law, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, OSHA, Workman’s Compensation and other aspects of employment
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent follow through

Responsibilities

  • Manage employment application system/process
  • Work with hiring managers and HR staff complete the hiring process
  • Place job postings/advertising
  • Perform pre-screen interviews
  • Complete background checks and employment verifications as applicable
  • Complete new hire paperwork in compliance with employment regulations
  • Prepare and present job offer letters to potential hires
  • Enter new hire data into the HRIS, ensuring accuracy
  • Act as HR liaison to the JLMC
  • Complete termination paperwork and HRIS entries
  • Perform exit interviews; collate and distribute results
  • Support employees who go out on medical leave with FMLA, ADA and/or STD
  • Track leaves of absence
  • Calculate department specific metrics
  • Act as backup for payroll
  • Act as a backup for benefits presentation at orientation
  • Act as a backup for orientation
  • Order office supplies for all locations, and other supplies as requested
  • Sort and distribute mail for all locations
