SUMMARY: Reports to the Director of GI Services, with a dotted line to the SVP, Clinical Services. Provides inpatient care for gastrointestinal patients at Rhode Island Hospital in alignment with Brown University Health’s mission, vision, and values. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Obtain and document medical histories, physical exams, and treatment plans in the medical record Initiate emergency measures when indicated Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and endoscopic studies Develop and implement individualized inpatient treatment plans (medications, diet, supportive care) Provide patient and family education on disease processes, procedures, and post-procedure care Collaborate with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams for management of complex GI conditions Provide inpatient consults and follow-up evaluations Document all encounters accurately in the EMR in compliance with regulatory standards Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, and committee work as appropriate Maintain infection control, patient safety, and adherence to hospital policies Perform other duties as assigned within the APP scope of practice
