About The Position

Under the general supervision of a physician, the Respiratory Therapist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats disorders affecting breathing across the lifespan, including Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal populations. Respiratory Therapists perform comprehensive cardiopulmonary evaluations and deliver therapeutic interventions to patients with deficiencies and dysfunctions of the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities include acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic data and laboratory results to guide evidence-based care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Current RRT credential (NBRC)
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NRP preferred (or obtained within designated timeframe)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to function independently during overnight hours and respond effectively in emergent situations
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Proficiency in advanced cardiopulmonary diagnostics and respiratory support technologies
  • Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
  • Associates of Science: Respiratory Therapy (Required)

  • Ongoing Therapy Management
  • Evaluate effectiveness of therapies and modify treatment based on patient response or lab results
  • Conduct regular patient rounds
  • Monitor patients and equipment; make necessary adjustments
  • Provide recommendations to physicians regarding therapy
  • Discontinue therapies as ordered
  • Remove, disassemble, and clean equipment per infection control guidelines
  • Perform oxygen rounds and titrate oxygen therapy as indicated

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support hemodynamic management
  • Discharge Planning & Case Management
  • Participate in discharge planning and coordination of care

  • Provide emergency, acute, critical, and post-acute care
  • Conduct patient and environmental assessments
  • Deliver therapeutic interventions
  • Participate in patient land and air transport
  • Respond to all Rapid Response and Code Blue events
  • Safety & Equipment Maintenance
  • Maintain department policies, procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Assist with care and maintenance of respiratory equipment and supplies
  • Arrange in-house maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Alert supervisor to equipment malfunctions and document maintenance/repair activities
