Position Highlights: Logistics: Contract Type: One (1) base year plus four (4) Schedule: Work Schedule: Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m Off-hours Coverage: on- call during all hours when the VAPAHCS OR and Cath Lab are closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays The On-call perfusionist(s) must be available at all times to provide on-site perfusion services within 30 minutes of a page or call when medically indicated Location: San Francisco, CA I’ve never heard of Terrestris. What does a typical day look like for t he Perfusionist? You will: Assist the Cardio-Thoracic service with bypass surgical cases and valve replacement of various types Perform onsite Perfusion/Autotransfusion Services in the treatment of care for eligible veteran beneficiaries as referred and authorized by the Malcom Randall VAMC Responsible for the preparation and operation of the heart and lung machines/pumps in conjunction with maintaining a sterile environment for procedures, maintaining blood volume in the patients, and preventing shock or air embolus Assemble supplies and equipment in preparation to accept a patient on extracorporeal circulation in cases of premature cardiac arrest or failure Other services include preparation, maintenance, and operation of VA-owned equipment, including the heart-lung machine, auto-transfusion pump, intra-aortic balloon pump, and centrifugal ventricular assist device What qualifications do you look for? You might be the professional we’re looking for if you have: Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship 10 years of experience Performed and have documentation of: Perfusion for a minimum of 5 Ross cases per year Perfusion for a minimum of 20 complex aortic dissection/aortic arch cases per year, including hypothermic circulatory arrest with retrograde and/or antegrade cerebral perfusion Performed documented: ECMO and LAVA ECMO for a minimum of 20 cases per year Angiovac procedures Impella procedures Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Previous experience with the VA is a plus If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
