The Perianesthesia Patient Care Assistant provides direct and indirect care to perioperative patients to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care. Under the supervision of the Clinical Leader/Charge Nurse/Nursing Director the PCA performs various clinical duties which facilitate each patient’s readiness for surgery. The Perianesthesia PCA provides a broad range of care and services to patients, including but not limited to, EKG, blood glucose monitoring, completing EKGs, supporting Perianesthesia procedures within their scope, responding to medical emergency situations utilizing Heartsaver CPR and AED skills, patient transport and securing equipment and supplies. They will provide safe and accurate transportation for patients. The Patient Care Assistant will also assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice.
