About The Position

The Perinatal Mental Health Clinician provides specialized, trauma-informed behavioral health services to individuals during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting. As part of a multidisciplinary Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) team, this clinician delivers high-quality, evidence-based assessments, therapy, case coordination, and crisis support for perinatal individuals and families experiencing mental health and/or co-occurring substance use challenges. The clinician works collaboratively with medical, psychiatric, peer support, and care management staff to ensure whole-person, culturally responsive care.

Requirements

  • master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling or related field.
  • Current licensure or license-eligible. Experience providing mental health services, preferably in maternal/ perinatal or trauma-focused care.
  • Training or willingness to train in perinatal mental health. Strong knowledge of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, attachment, and family systems.
  • Ability to work within an integrated care framework.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) or similar specialization.
  • Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments, including screening for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), trauma, substance use, parenting stress, and social determinants of health.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions such as CBT, DBT, TMBI, CPT, and other perinatal-specific modalities.
  • Provide individual and group therapy tailored to prenatal and postpartum populations.
  • Offer crisis intervention and safety planning as needed, in alignment with CCBHC crisis protocols.
  • Support clients experiencing perinatal loss, birth trauma, fertility-related stress, or NICU-related emotional needs.
  • Work closely with obstetric, pediatric, primary care, psychiatric, and care management teams to ensure integrated whole-person care.
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up for supportive services such as lactation support, home visiting, early childhood services, MAT programs, peer support, and community resources.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case consultations.
  • Complete timely, thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with CCBHC requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all CCBHC standards, state regulations, and ethical guidelines.
  • Contribute to program development, quality improvement projects, and outcome monitoring.
  • Participate in outreach activities, groups, or classes (e.g., postpartum support groups, prenatal mental health education).
  • Collaborate with community partners to raise awareness of perinatal mental health needs.
