About The Position

Serves as a clinical expert and educator for the staff of the Operating Room. Assists, implements and evaluates in the assessment, development, coordination and evaluation of staff educational program needs. This includes orientation, internships, competencies, and monthly in-services for disciplines within the department. Responsible for new employee orientation, continuing education, and oversight of new employees while maintaining Operating Room standards of care. Assists manager with recruitment, retention, and performance goals of potential candidates. Reviews current literature for best practice using AORN as the professional organization of choice. Observes staff in their roles and makes recommendations on practice. Acts as both a consultant and resource for the staff. Supports data collection and analysis of process improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina or Compact State.
  • Graduate of an accredited program for professional nurses.
  • At least five to seven years of recent OR nursing experience required.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • Must obtain ACLS and PALS within 6 month of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred/obtained within 3 years of hire.
  • Certification of Operating Room Nursing obtained within 1 year of hire date.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching experienced/inexperience or Operating Room nursing staff and nursing students preferred.
