PERSONAL CAREGIVER
About The Position
Homewatch Caregivers® is a non-medical, in-home care agency. We provide unique care to adults of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities in the comfort and safety of their preferred residence. We are currently seeking kind, compassionate, and experienced individuals to assist us in caring for our clients with intellectual disabilities. Such clients’ specific needs will vary depending on their exact diagnosis and preferences. Those with intellectual disabilities may struggle to recognize and/or express their needs and emotions, causing them to become agitated. An empathetic, patient individual with an open mind and strong communication skills would be an ideal fit for this population.
Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must have a current Tuberculosis (PPD) Test
- 2-Step Skin Injection/Chest X-ray/Quantiferon Blood Work)
Nice To Haves
- Experience with disabilities preferred
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist client in safely preparing meals and ensuring proper nutrition.
- Accompany client on community outings, appointments, and social engagements.
- Interact and engage with client through conversation, games, and emotional support.
- Make appropriate accommodations to promote autonomy and increase independence.
- Help client identify and achieve various goals in order to foster independence.
