About The Position

Under leadership, plans and administers assigned exercise instructor functions and duties. Assesses, implements, and evaluates exercise prescriptions for cardiac outpatients. Facilitates multidisciplinary approach to patient care and attainment of department goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/Physiology.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year teaching experience.
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
  • Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) - American College of Sports Medicine -PREFERRED
  • ACE Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Using member's name whenever possible.
  • Familiarity with member's physical limitations.
  • Adapting class to meet member's individual age-related needs.
  • Creating positive atmosphere.
  • Wearing proper attire during session (as defined by dress code).
  • Eight to ten minute warm-up including gross body movement followed by static stretches.
  • Exercises that meet class description.
  • Safe and effective exercise technique.
  • Explanation through verbal or physical instruction variations of exercises to accommodate all levels of exercise.
  • Exercises are provided in a manner that is responsive to the client's needs, physical condition, and level of understanding, age and culture.
  • Five to ten minutes of static stretching and relaxation at end of class unless class is stretching class.
  • Markets Motion Center fitness center and the Personal training program by giving accurate and descriptive information on: Classes offered Fees Policies and Procedures
  • Meeting participation Attendance of scheduled instructor meetings/staff meetings, completes assignments in a timely manner: Reviews material if unable to attend meetings. Completes assignments in a timely manner. Completes time card accurately.
  • Finding a substitute teacher when needed.
  • Promptly notifying supervisor of any change in schedule (ie. substitute teacher).
  • Sharing available resources and information with others.
  • Respecting others' opinions and values.
  • Accepting interpersonal differences and cooperating with other staff.
  • Offers ideas or suggestions, assistance/training to others as needed.
  • Accepts instruction, coaching, and counseling in a positive, productive manner.
  • Identifies own need for skill development and pursues training opportunities.
  • Meets personal self-development plan for year.
  • Sets minimum of three and no more than five personal objectives.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions for special populations, (i.e. lower back, common musculoskeletal problems (knees, ankles)).
  • Knowledge of proper body mechanics and cueing.
