About The Position

Job Summary: The PET/CT Technologist will work in a collaborative environment to provide superior patient care. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving PET images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the PET area.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalency.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant experience, including operating PETCT equipment.
  • NYS License, ARRT or NMTCB certified; registration in ARRT (N) or CNMT required.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.

  • ARRT (CT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
  • Perform PET studies and general radiological procedures: Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided.
  • Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologists discretion, the referring physician.
  • Operate PET CT scanner to perform cardiac, oncologic, and brain studies and non-diagnostic CT.
  • Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
  • Observe patient while in the PET area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
  • Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
  • Process, transfer, and backup PET CT data in appropriate image formats.
  • Under guidance and approval of the physician, calculate, measure, administer, and record radiopharmaceutical dosages received, used, and disposed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections.
  • Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
