About The Position

This position is eligible for an additional sign-on bonus. Provide clinical pharmacy services within the on-site health program to support safe, timely, and contract-compliant medication management for patients. The role supports provision of prescribed medications, formulary medication access, non-formulary medication prior authorization processes, continuity of medication supply for transfer, release, or removal, and compliance with applicable clinical, credentialing, privacy, documentation, emergency response, and quality requirements established under the contract.

Requirements

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license in Maryland or the ability to obtain one.
  • Recognized as a Licensed Supervised Provider. Able to provide care and services under a Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreement (CP/PAA), as permitted by law, regulation, and organizational authorization.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm D degree from a program that is accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

  • Required to walk unaided at a normal pace for up to 5 minutes and maintain balance.

  • Must have the ability to assist sick, injured, or aging patients or staff exiting the building (may require lifting, dragging, wheeling, or carrying someone who weighs significantly more than self).
  • Must be able to see, hear and smell with aids if necessary.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or carry 30 pounds.
  • Must perform the duties of my job in a stressful and often austere environment without physical limitations.
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Average manual dexterity for computer operation.
  • Phone or computer use for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain current/physical residency in the continental U.S.
  • Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician within 30 days prior to initial assignment.
  • U.S. citizen and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years (unless abroad on official U.S. government duty).
  • Successfully engage in and complete a thorough Background Investigation.
  • Poses or have ability to obtain required security clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting (preferred, not required).
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services within the scope permitted by law, regulation, organizational authorization, and any required Collaborative Practice and Prescriptive Authority Agreement (CP/PAA).
  • Support the on-site health care program in providing over the counter and prescription medications to patients in accordance with contract requirements and applicable standards of care.
  • Manage and support formulary medication processes in alignment with the current Immigration Health Services Corps formulary and approved non-formulary medication processes.
  • Support non-formulary medication requests by completing and routing required prior authorization documentation to the pharmacy benefits manager and coordinating final approval status.
  • Coordinate with network pharmacies to support dispensing of approved formulary and non-formulary medications in accordance with pharmacy benefit requirements.
  • Help ensure medication services use participating network pharmacies when reimbursement is contractually limited to network pharmacy dispensing.
  • Ensure adequate medication supply is prepared to support continuity of care for patient transfer, release, or removal, including any required travel medications.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to identify medication-related needs associated with acute, chronic, urgent, and emergency care delivered on-site or through approved outside providers.
  • Maintain accurate medication-related documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) and other required records in accordance with applicable privacy, records management, and contract requirements.
  • Support medication-related coordination for Medical Payment Authorization Request and referral processes when medication services intersect with off-site care, discharge planning, or continuity of care requirements.
  • Participate in patient care activities, quality improvement activities, and risk management activities required under the health services program.
  • Comply with written policies and procedures for emergency response, including prompt recognition of and response to health-related emergencies.
  • Maintain all required licensure, credentialing, and certifications in active status for the state in which services are provided.
  • Participate in initial, annual, and other required training, drills, and competencies related to emergency response, safety, life safety, and assigned duties.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality and restrict access to protected information to authorized personnel with a need to know.
  • Work effectively with patients from diverse cultural and language backgrounds and support effective communication through approved language assistance resources when needed.
  • Coordinate with the Field Medical Coordinator, regional chief pharmacists, network pharmacies, and other designated stakeholders on medication access and pharmacy benefit processes as required.
  • Support safe, lawful, and compliant pharmacy-related operations consistent with contract standards, internal policies, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
