Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities The staff pharmacist will work in coordination with the medical providers and other appropriate staff to meet the patients' medication related needs. The staff pharmacist will be available for clinical consultations to providers, medical staff in-services and community lectures for patient medication education. The staff pharmacists duties will include receiving, filling, recording, and all dispensing of prescriptions written by Sea Mar Providers as well as those received from outside sources. Duties in this area will also include establishing and maintaining patient medication profiles on each patient including allergy information and medication history. These profiles will be screened for drug and/or allergy interactions. The staff pharmacist will also provide needed information on medication and possible side effects. The staff pharmacist along with the pharmacy director will have the general responsibility for ordering and maintaining all pharmacy inventory, third party billing and daily management reports. The staff pharmacists will be responsible for checking pre-packaged products for use in other clinics, which do not have a pharmacy on-site. Pre-packaging for the nursing home, as well as other Sea Mar sites, will be done as needed. A log/record will be kept and maintained documenting all transactions in accordance with applicable state laws. The staff pharmacist will perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacy director. Clinical The staff pharmacists duties will include all duties in regards to patient care, including: o Demonstration of knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. o Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. o Ability to identify and categorize each patient's age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent or geriatric patients. Condition of Employment The staff pharmacist is required to have an employment application on file with furnished references and subject to background screening. Language Skills Should be fluent in English and either know or be able to learn Spanish. Mathematical Skills The staff pharmacist must possess those math skills necessary to obtain a license to practice pharmacy and perform the task necessary to pharmacy practice. Reasoning Ability The staff pharmacist should be able to perform the necessary tasks and reasoning that will produce safe and effective pharmacy services.
