About The Position

Join UPMC Hamot as a Full-Time Pharmacy Assistant and become an essential part of a high-performing healthcare team dedicated to safe, efficient medication delivery. This role offers hands-on experience in hospital pharmacy operations, working closely with pharmacists, clinicians, and patients to support exceptional care. The position serves variable shifts (daylight and evening) with weekend and holiday availability required and includes potential for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 with a two-year commitment. Candidates with prior UPMC Hamot Pharmacy experience are strongly preferred. In this role, there is opportunity to - Distribute medications, cassettes, and emergency carts per policy and regulations. Retrieve and return discontinued medications with appropriate documentation. Assist with filling and labeling medication orders accurately. Prepare oral medications for correct patient administration. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked pharmacy environment. Ensure secure storage of medications per regulatory standards. Document logs, inventories, and required compliance records. Communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors. Process patient data and medication records using pharmacy systems. Practice proper hand hygiene and infection control. Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and pharmacy regulations. Complete sales transactions and follow cash-handling procedures.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Act 34
