Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining pharmaceutical inventories in main pharmacy, pharmacy satellites and automated dispensing cabinets to ensure timely, accurate, compliant and cost-effective medication availability and storage. In collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership, prepares and analyzes data for supply chain optimization, inventory management, recommending adjustments to stocking levels, PARs and turns.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED) or Completion of a CMC Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
  • 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting required
  • RXTECH - State of California Pharmacy Technician License required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • 3 years of inventory management experience in the healthcare industry preferred
  • CPHT - Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a collaborative and a cooperative work environment. Improves inter- and intra-departmental relationships by utilizing communication, interpersonal relationships and team building.
  • Responsible for collecting, organizing and evaluating medication usage and supply information for direct patient care, medication use review and pharmacy leadership.
  • Supports the departments’ process for preventing adverse medication events by ensuring appropriate storage of medication in the pharmacy relating to black box warning, high alert/high risk, and look alike sound alike medications.
  • Maintains the inventory of medications through data-driven utilization reviews and par level management. Develops and implements procedures for inventorying and adjusting quantities on hand and modifying the storage locations of routine, standard and patient-specific pharmaceutical stocks, including quality assurance processes.
  • Collaborates with Pharmacy and Nursing leadership to review slow-moving inventory and make corresponding inventory management recommendations.
  • Participates and leads performance improvement initiatives to optimize pharmaceutical inventory management.
  • Ensures pharmacy has adequate supply levels of vital pharmacologic antidotes and emergency medications in order to provide optimal care.
  • Adjusts storage locations to meet the inventory needs of the department.
  • Provides assistance in the immediate communication to the Recall Medication Distribution List Team and assists in the retrieval of recalled drug from all areas of the hospital for all drug recalls in accordance with the Drug Recall policy.
  • Maintains and monitors consignment programs.
  • Monitors department's materials needs to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with Value Analysis Team(s) to identify and implement cost savings initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
