About The Position

Pharmacy Medication Safety Coordinator provides a leadership role in formulating policy and instituting models that promote medication safety in all aspects of the medication management process. In conjunction with the Director of Pharmacy and with designated facility leadership, the role is responsible for coordinating all activities related to medication safety. These activities involve reporting, system and process evaluation, formulation of recommendations and initiatives, coordination of intervention strategies, and monitoring of activities related to medication safety. This individual serves as liaison to pharmacy, nursing, quality and the medical staff leadership. Additional responsibility includes the oversight and further development of the Drug Safety Service. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy and 3-5 years experience Experience as pharmacist in an academic hospital environment. Experience in education of Pharm.D. students, residents and pharmacy staff members. 1 year of residency training is equivalent to 2 years working experience. or
  • Master's Degree (Preferred) and 1-2 years experience Experience as pharmacist in an academic hospital environment. Experience in education of Pharm.D. students, residents and pharmacy staff members. 1 year of residency training is equivalent to 2 years working experience.
  • Licensed Pharmacist - MO
  • Employees must obtain Licensed Pharmacist - MO or equivalent within 90 days
  • PHARM LIC MO Licensed Pharmacist - MO or proof of pharmacy technician license, pharmacy intern license, or application submitted to board of pharmacy prior to hire with pharmacist license obtained within 90 days of hire. Required 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the safety of the organization?s medication system and supports an environment dedicated to the patient and staff safety relating to medication processes.
  • Provides leadership for the Drug Safety Service.
  • Works to develop the Hospital?s reputation in the area of medication safety.
  • Maintains staff pharmacist skills to provide staffing on an as needed basis and to ensure sound working knowledge of departmental processes.
