The largest of the four Duke Healthhospitals with 1062 patient beds, it features comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, including a regional emergency/trauma center, an endo-surgery center, and more.Work schedule Weekdays Day Shift Oncall Opportunity for weekend coverage   General Description of the Job Class The Pharmacy Coordinator, within the Department of Pharmacy, is a key leadership position for a pharmacist, with responsibilities for being a team lead, coordinating a program/practice group, or being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a specific area. This clinical pharmacist coordinator will work with the pharmacy operations manager of the Duke Specialty Pharmacy to oversee operations of the main Duke Specialty Pharmacy within the Cancer Center. This consists of all dispensing staff (pharmacy technicians, pharmacists) and cashiers. They would be responsible for overseeing this staff as well as onboarding/training all staff, students, and residents. We currently have 2 PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residents that they would precept, as well as manage all pharmacy student and resident projects. This pharmacist would also be the primary transplant discharge coordinator overseeing the discharges that we work with the inpatient team on, to ensure that our on-call staff are scheduled appropriately and discharges are leaving the pharmacy on time. This coordinator will ensure that workflows are operating efficiently, and work with the operations manager to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance within our dispensing workflows. They would also be consulted for day-to-day HR resolution and continued support for the whole operation that reports up to the Pharmacy Operations Manager.   Duties and Responsibilities of this Level The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Coordinator will vary based on specialty area. The duties and responsibilities for all areas include the following: The Pharmacy Coordinator will serve as a leader for the Department of Pharmacy. This will include managing, and/or coordinating employees within a work unit. Assists, or is responsible for recruiting and onboarding staff in the work unit. Establishes and maintains relationships with key leaders in specialty areas. Maintains familiarity with all Division and Departmental programs and initiatives. Is responsible for personal and professional competency and growth.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, or, BS Pharmacy Degree and eligible for license as a Pharmacist by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
  • Two years of pharmacy practice experience required.
  • Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of PGY1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent experience is strongly preferred and PGY2 Specialty Residency in area of specialty is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an accredited Specialty Pharmacy with managerial or supervisor experience is highly preferred.
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) in area of specialty, if applicable, is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations of the main Duke Specialty Pharmacy within the Cancer Center (dispensing staff and cashiers)
  • Onboarding/training all staff, students, and residents (2 PGY2 Ambulatory Care resident preceptor) as well as maintaining resident projects
  • Primary transplant discharge coordinator overseeing the discharges that we work with the inpatient team on, to ensure that our on-call staff are scheduled appropriately and discharges are leaving the pharmacy on time
  • Ensure that workflows are operating efficiently for timely patient care
  • Work with the operations manager to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance within our dispensing workflows (hazardous and control drug storage, ACHC/URAC/payer dispensing requirements, etc.)
  • Consulted for day-to-day HR resolution and continued support for the whole operation that reports to the Pharmacy Operations Manager
  • Lead QC meetings if needed
  • Keep track of all online training courses (Elevate, Dossier, LMS) and all certificates and licenses as required
