About The Position

The Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist performs the following duties to assigned sites across Mayo Midwest: accurately and efficiently procures and ensures an effective inventory of medications and supplies; assists with the management of medication shortages; processes medication recalls and the return of pharmaceuticals and/or their destruction; and performs the duties of a Pharmacy Purchasing Technician as assigned. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (business, management, accounting or related field) and 2 years of pharmacy technician experience; or two-year college degree (healthcare of business preferred) and 4 years pharmacy technician experience; or high school diploma and 6 years pharmacy technician experience.
  • Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
  • Must be detailed-oriented
  • able to prioritize work
  • able to work independently under general guidelines and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • work collaboratively with others
  • work independently with minimal supervision.
  • No history of drug abuse or misuse, or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required
  • Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy in the state he/she is hired to work in where required by state regulation, or eligible to obtain. May not perform duties requiring registration until registration is obtained.
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in pharmacy purchasing and inventory control strongly preferred.
