About The Position

After orientation to the department, the resident begins a series of rotations and activities designed to meet the goals and objectives of Boston Medical Center’s (BMC) pharmacy practice residency program. Acute care (inpatient) rotations include but are not limited to Medicine, Hematology/Oncology, Pediatrics, and Infectious Diseases. Critical care rotations include the MICU, SICU, CCU, PICU, NICU, and emergency medicine. Ambulatory care rotations include the anticoagulation monitoring service, outpatient oncology, HIV clinic, and primary care. Throughout the year, the resident meets objectives in practice management and drug policy development by participating in the MUE program, drug policy projects, quality management program, and various administrative and management projects. The resident also meets objectives for hospital practice by staffing in both decentralized and central pharmacy positions. Participates in any on-call programs as part of hospital practice responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must have PharmD from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy.
  • MA Licensed or eligible for licensure.
  • Letter of intent including goals
  • College transcript curriculum vitae 3 letters of recommendation personal on-site interview required
  • Interest in and aptitude for advanced training in pharmacy
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in formal and oral presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact with staff and patients in a courteous and customer service manner.
  • Proficient with standard Microsoft programs (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Ability and willingness to become proficient in additional healthcare related applications.
