About The Position

The Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the daily operation of the designated pharmacy therapies in accordance with applicable pharmacy law by ensuring the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; complies with all applicable Company operating processes, policies, procedures, codes, and standards of practice. The Pharmacy Supervisor is also responsible for overseeing a team of pharmacists, nurses, and pharmacy technicians. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Graduate degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and 5+ years of pharmacy experience required.
  • At least 1 year of specialty pharmacy experience required.
  • Must possess a current unrestricted registered pharmacist license or registration/certification in the required state(s) of practice, as required by law, and must be evidenced.
  • Must be willing and able to cover on-call rotation as needed.
  • Ability to learn modern pharmacy management and related systems.
  • Must present professionally on the phone and in person.
  • Must articulate thoughts well and communicate them clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical requirements: must be able to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Comfortable with repetitive motions in answering phones and using computer keyboard.
  • Adept at handling sensitive and confidential situations.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises designated pharmacy personnel, and all relevant activities in designated pharmacy.
  • Assists in application review and interview process of pharmacy personnel.
  • Assigns work schedules and provides on-the-job training for pharmacy personnel.
  • Assists in developing performance standards for pharmacy operations personnel in accordance with pharmacy job descriptions.
  • Regularly reviews, evaluates and counsels assigned personnel on their job performance, including but not limited to recommending salary actions, promotions and demotions, discipline, or termination.
  • Ensures that orientation of new pharmacy staff occurs and is documented.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures to ensure continued accuracy and efficiency, and promote cost-effective, and safe medication use.
  • Supervises maintenance of patient records, including prescription records and clinical monitoring.
  • Helps maintain expenditures within budget guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable accreditation standards to maintain accreditation status.
  • Responds to and records patient grievances.
  • Has complete understanding of confidentiality with respect to Company proprietary information as well as information concerning patient/client care; complying with all federal and state laws as apply to confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information.
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies; promotes patient adherence and compliance.
  • Assures the ongoing educational needs of the pharmacy staff are considered and the training is documented.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and monitoring specifications for the procurement of medications, chemicals, and biologics.
  • Ensures strict control and accountability are adhered to for medications dispensed to patients or otherwise distributed (DUR).
  • Assures reports, documents, statistical surveys, and other required data are timely completed and provides same to Company management, along with analysis and recommendations as requested.
  • Monitors staff maintenance of licenses and certifications and records such efforts and ensures the license(s) are posted.
  • Monitors that required staff has taken required REMS training and obtained any necessary certification and document the same.
  • Monitors that staff are trained in adverse event reporting and encourage them to make such reports without fear of retribution.
  • Monitors whether pharmacy adheres to infection-control policies.
  • Monitors whether pharmacy maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and procedures.
  • Periodically audits accuracy of various aspects of clinical operations from point of prescription entry through completion.
  • Participates on Company committees as assigned by management.
  • When AnovoRx has written agreements with manufacturers for pharmacovigilance services, then as to such services: participates in Reportable Events Group training as required, receives reporters’ call concerning adverse events, product complaints and medical inquiries as required, completes the submission to the manufacturer and manufacturer designated partners of received reports of adverse events, product complaints and medical inquiries as required, assists with follow-up calls as required, and otherwise assists the Reportable Events Group Lead as requested with fulfillment of contracted pharmacovigilance obligations.
  • Always maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations, and accrediting organization standards.
  • Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and Quality Program activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
