Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician supports safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy operations by assisting in medication preparation, dispensing, inventory management, patient communication, and operational workflows. This role requires strong teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Current Virginia Pharmacy Technician License or eligibility.
  • At least 1 year of technician experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 60 days.

  • Multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing prescriptions.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, providers, insurers, and HCHC staff.
  • Resolve third-party billing issues, obtain refill authorizations, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Operate pharmacy software and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Monitor, order, and rotate prescription and non-prescription inventory.
  • Identify potential medication therapy problems and alert the pharmacist.
  • Perform opening, closing, cashier, and end-of-month procedures as needed.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and assist with patient questions.
  • Support the pharmacy window during open hours and help with Food Pharmacy operations when needed.
  • Help onboard new staff and represent Pharmacy in internal or community settings when requested.
  • Safely deliver medications through HCHC’s delivery program.
  • Maintain compliance with all HCHC, state, and federal policies.
