About The Position

As a Pharmacy Technician – Medication Delivery, you will provide pharmaceutical services that support safe and effective medication use, improve therapeutic outcomes, and enhance the Patient Centered Medical Home model. This position facilitates medication distribution by entering orders, filling prescriptions, preparing medications for transport, and securely delivering prescription medications, including controlled substances, between pharmacy locations and designated pickup sites. In this role, you will work closely with patients, pharmacy staff, and clinic teams to ensure accurate dispensing, secure handling, and timely delivery of medications, while maintaining required documentation and chain of custody.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Indiana Pharmacy Technician license
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License and clean driving record required; must be able to travel between sites as needed
  • Customer service skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and eligibility for coverage under the organization’s auto insurance program
  • Operate a multi-line phone system and other office equipment including printers, fax machines, etc.
  • Basic software skills (Microsoft Office, EHR, online sources, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred
  • At least three years of community pharmacy experience preferred
  • Pioneer pharmacy software experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transport prescription medications, including controlled substances, between pharmacy locations and designated clinic or pickup sites in accordance with DEA regulations, state law, organizational policies, and established chain of custody procedures.
  • Accurately verify, document, and reconcile all prescription transfers, including controlled substances, using required logs, delivery manifests, and signature verification to ensure accountability and audit readiness.
  • Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of all medications during transport by following secure handling protocols, storage requirements, and HIPAA standards at all times.
  • Communicate promptly with pharmacy leadership and clinic staff regarding delivery schedules, delays, discrepancies, or security concerns to support timely patient pickup and continuity of care
  • Greets customers and answer questions.
  • Receive prescriptions and check their validity.
  • Processes prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate.
  • Resolves issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims).
  • Selects the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions.
  • Identifies ways to increase medication adherence for patients (e.g. 90-day supplies, medication synchronization).
  • Sorts, stocks, labels medication and monitor inventory.
  • Manages inventory appropriately (e.g. ordering medications and supplies).
  • Undertakes administrative tasks (e.g. record keeping) as assigned.
  • Comply with all security measures and quality standards.
  • Comply with all state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintains compliance standards in accordance with the Compliance policies and the Code-of-Conduct.
  • Reports compliance problems appropriately.
