About The Position

Compassion & Choices is seeking a Philanthropy Assistant to help advance our advocacy, medical outreach and education efforts across the country. This position serves the Philanthropy Operations team, the Philanthropy Outreach team and the Planned Giving team (within the Philanthropy department) and provides critical database, reporting and administrative support to the department. This is a full-time, remotely-located, paid position reporting to the Chief of Philanthropy. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience.   • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business, nonprofit administration, or communications, OR equivalency of related experience.
  • 2-3 years experience in a nonprofit Philanthropy department, database administration or equivalent.
  • Understanding of donor database/CRM systems including complex query and report building, logic and workflows, and other basic functionality is necessary. Specific experience of EveryAction would be helpful but is not required.
  • Strong general administration skills are needed.
  • Must be strong and the ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • In addition to specific database skills noted above, to perform this job successfully, the candidate should have working knowledge of basic computer functions. These include (but are not limited to) spreadsheets, word processing, calendar and email management, document management, phone and video conferencing.
  • Google Suite knowledge is helpful.
  • Fluency in internet research is important.
  • The ability to adapt to new software tools and enhancements as well as other technologies as they become available is essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret various written materials.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the integrity of donor data in the EveryAction database and related systems/processes to ensure they are operating efficiently.
  • Responsible for the integrity and process of database systems to include workflows and other aspects of the surrounding systems to ensure data is accurate and consistent.
  • Responsible for responding to staff and donor requests through Asana for database record updates, list pulls, research, etc. to ensure donor data and requests are being handled effectively and efficiently.
  • Assists the Philanthropy Operations team with database and Grant support along with Asana management.
  • Assists the Philanthropy Outreach team with event support, list pulls and prospect research.
  • Assists the Planned Giving team with list pulls, record updates and prospect research.
  • Build complex queries (with inclusions and suppressions) and reports to produce lists and track fundraising efforts.
  • Provide administrative support with limited oversight to the Philanthropy department.
  • Responsible for working with Philanthropy staff as well as the database team, the digital team, the accounting team, Trylon and Eidolon to ensure imported and exported data is accurate and complete with data flowing in and out of the system properly.
  • Complete required C&C staff reports, including company credit card statements, time cards, mandated training, and other human resource requirements on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Demonstrate commitment to actively supporting C&C’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, its overall strategic plan, and other organization-wide goals.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
