About The Position

As a full-time Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in the healthcare delivery process by expertly collecting blood samples from patients for diagnostic testing. Your work ensures that specimens are collected safely, accurately, and with minimal discomfort to patients, which directly impacts the quality of laboratory results and patient care. You will interact with a diverse patient population, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide reassurance and clear communication. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards to prevent contamination and ensure the integrity of samples.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified or certified eligible with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or National Accreditation Agency (NCA) required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection techniques.
  • Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures related to blood collection.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting.
  • Strong customer service or patient care experience.
  • Understanding of clinical laboratory and other medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages.
  • Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling and documentation of specimens to maintain traceability and accuracy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and work areas to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage patient records and input data accurately into laboratory information systems.
  • Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and minimizing discomfort during blood collection.
  • Monitor and restock phlebotomy supplies to ensure readiness for daily operations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection schedules and resolve any collection issues.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and handle biohazardous materials according to established guidelines.
