SUMMARY This position will be responsible for efficiently and accurately performing blood collection and non-blood collection from donors. This position will ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, State Departments of Health, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), EMEA and FDA Guidelines, general State and Country Regulations such as but not limited to (CLIA, CAP, USP, ISO 9001, USDA regulations, HTA license, DEA and State Controlled Substance programs) where site appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Phlebotomy experience OR Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant education program, required.
  • Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs including MS Office
  • Ability to work in a team laboratory environment with knowledge or familiarity with scientific terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, management, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), IRB Protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete all process and procedure training as required.
  • Create a welcoming environment for donors to increase donor retention and participate in donor recruitment, as needed.
  • Consent donors and perform pre-donation donor screening qualification processes according to SOPs.
  • Maintain confidentiality with respect to personnel, donors, and site records utilized during all duties.
  • Preparing donors for donation procedures in a timely manner.
  • Review donor record files for accuracy and completeness and ensure documentation is performed according to SOPs.
  • Collect blood products or specimens through configuration of the collection device, performing phlebotomy, monitoring, and disconnecting the donor upon completion according to SOP.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, annual, and periodic calibration and qualification activities.
  • Assist in performing donor center facility and equipment cleaning and maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, and/or annual.
  • Process, label and review units and samples in preparation for shipping according to specifications, as necessary.
  • Perform product and sample shipment activities, as necessary.
  • Monitor collection supply levels and enter purchase requests, as necessary.
