About The Position

The Physical Therapy Technician (PT Tech) provides support in patient care and assists with therapeutic activities under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. This role functions within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment and adheres to established professional practices, ethical standards, and departmental policies. The PT Tech also demonstrates accountability through participation in program development, quality improvement initiatives, problem-solving, and productivity enhancement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment
  • Physical ability to perform frequent and prolonged bending, stooping, crouching, walking, and standing.
  • The PT Tech possesses strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments in a timely and effective manner.
  • This role requires the ability to function both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, urgent environment.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and patient-relations skills are essential, along with adaptability, accountability, and a collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a physical therapy or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physical therapists in setting up and cleaning treatment areas and equipment before and after patient sessions.
  • Support patients during therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring proper technique and safety.
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with patients to encourage participation in rehabilitation
  • Help transport patients to and from therapy areas as needed, providing assistance with mobility devices.
  • Observe and report patient responses, safety concerns, and equipment issues to the supervising therapist promptly.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving and program improvement efforts.
