About The Position

Work schedule and shifts: This position is 5 days a week with 4 of those days running independent outpatient clinic. M: Downtown Siteman Cancer Center, T: Christian Siteman Cancer Center, W: Downtown Siteman Cancer Center, Th: Downtown Siteman Cancer Center, F: Admin day. Clinics run from 8a to 4p. Clinic overview: 80% of the patient base are breast patients, the other 20% is a mix of melanoma and endocrine patients. Clinic template is about 20 patients per day but we would start slow for onboarding. Team structure and interactions: APP would have a collaborating physician but majority of the training will come from APP manager and APP peers. Our APP team is a team of 4 with this being the 4th APP. There will always be a surgeon or another APP running their own clinic at the same time. We also have MA support to help with scheduling and follow ups for patients. Day-in-the-life snapshot: Typical day would be seeing patients in clinic, following up on patient results, and coordinating their care. The APP may also be responsible for completing peer to peer reviews and answering patient questions from MyChart, along with clinic prep for their clinics. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Performs physical assessments/examinations. Assesses and counsels patients and obtains medical histories. Monitors patient's adherence to protocols. Coordinates screening for research studies. Collects and records data per research requirements and guidelines. Develops and implements adherence plans used with protocols. Bills for professional services as permitted by the collaborative practice agreement. Interprets diagnostic tests results for deviations from normal. Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory test. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care and infection management. Provides physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Requirements

  • Master's degree - Physician Assistant Studies
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
  • Physician Assistant - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Physician Assistant - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • No specific work experience is required for this position.
  • Current PA licensure to practice in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, or ability to obtain within three months of date of hire.
  • Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
