Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services not only include basic medical care, but also dental, optometry, behavioral health services, fitness, nutrition and other family programs. We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Urgent Care Provider to join our growing clinic team. This role provides same-day care for patients of all ages in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment focused on delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare. This position is ideal for a provider who enjoys variety in patient care, values collaboration, and is passionate about providing timely treatment for acute illnesses and minor injuries.

Requirements

  • Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, medical marijuana license holders who test positive for marijuana will not be qualified for this position.
  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values
  • Must be a graduate of a Nationally Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Must possess a clear, unencumbered Oklahoma PA or NP license in good standing with the Oklahoma Medical Board
  • Must possess a clear DEA and OBNDD registration
  • Board certified, or documentation of eligibility if in the process of obtaining board certification
  • 2 or more years of experience in public health, community health, or an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and provides comprehensive Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner services to clinic patients according to clinic policy, accepted PA/NP standards, and the standards of regulatory agencies.
  • Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of the physician. Techniques include observation, inspection, palpation, auscultation, and percussion.
  • Records physical findings and formulates a plan and prognosis, based on the patient's condition.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Recognizes abnormal findings and treats or refers to the Physician for further evaluation and/or treatment.
  • Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
  • Instructs patients in health education and prevention as needed.
  • Discusses the case with the physician and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Refers the patient to an appropriate specialty for further care or diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at the clinic. Provides full and adequate information to the receiving facility.
  • Maintains adequate records detailing patient care activities.
  • Ability to adapt to a wide range of patient care needs and changes in patient flow while maintaining quality of care.
  • Assists medical staff in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating health care.
  • Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient data and information.
  • Maintains licensure and appropriate certifications.
