Position Overview: The Physician Assistant (PA) will plan, direct, and evaluate resident and employee health care in ambulatory health services; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses; perform selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. Requirements

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • The ability to educate patients in an empathetic and clear manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program and received and maintained certification.
  • Licensed in the State of North Dakota
  • Current BLS Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current ACLS Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Current PALS Certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical exams and medical history reviews.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work, X-rays, and other imaging studies.
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide a diagnosis for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies (depending on state laws and scope of practice).
  • Perform minor medical procedures such as suturing, wound care, and injections.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Offer counseling on lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and stress management.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide consultation and referrals to specialists as necessary.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide ongoing care for patients with chronic illnesses or conditions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and insurance requirements.
  • Document patient interactions and treatment plans clearly and thoroughly.
  • Serves as a member of committees dealing with health care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
